September 3, 2010

It has been another great week.  Everyone is beginning to settle into the routine and things are running smoothly.  I was pleased to see everyone who attended the PTO Open House this week.  It conveys a very positive message to your child and the teachers that your child’s education is a primary concern of yours.  Your support is essential to creating a win-win educational experience for your child.

I want to thank all the parents who have returned the PACKET OF FORMS that went home the first week of school.  If you have not returned your forms, please do so on Monday.

The MAGAZINE SALE will end on Monday, Sept. 13th.  Please encourage your child to sell their magazines and get the orders into school on time.  We are looking for participation from every child/family.  The profits from this fund-raiser go directly to the school for needed items and special programs.  Every little bit helps, even just one order.  Thank you for your support.

It is great seeing the parents in the mornings.  If you stay with your child in the cafeteria please DO NOT GO WITH YOUR CHILD TO THEIR CLASSROOMS.  When the students leave the cafeteria with their teacher we request that all parents remain in the cafeteria.  This allows the teachers to establish a morning routine that helps the students get ready for the day. If you need to talk with a teacher, please send a note to school and the teacher will call you.

We will be starting each week with a small (10 minute) assembly in the gym.  This assembly will include a short prayer and recognition of one child from each class that has accomplished something positive the previous week.  Please feel free to join us for MAGNIFICENT MONDAYS.  This coming week, due to the holiday, we will gather for TERRIFIC TUESDAY.

The BOOSTERS (St. Cecilia’s Athletic Organization) will have their first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, Sept 7th at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.  Find out what the Boosters do for St. Cecilia School and Parish.  All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially those of 8th grade students who are interested in applying for the Booster scholarship

MARKET DAY ORDERS can be picked up on Wednesday, September 8th.  Pick-up times are from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Monday, September 7th is LABOR DAY therefore there will be NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!  We look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday at 7:40 a.m.

CUB SCOUTS AND GIRL SCOUTS will be holding an information and sign-up night on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00 in the school cafeteria.  If you have a son or daughter who may be interested in scouting, please come to the meeting and explore the possibility of this extracurricular activity for your child.

All EDCHOICE SCHOLARSHIP ACCEPTANCE FORMS are required to be turned into the office no later than Tuesday, September 7th.  We must have this form in order to officially activate your scholarship.  If the form is not turned in, the state will cancel the scholarship and it then cannot be reactivated.  If you have lost your form we have some in the school office.
